As a farm girl raised in Minnesota, I had to learn the hard way that allowing myself to ask for help when I needed it most was actually a wise choice. Don’t get me wrong – it was hard to learn to receive when all I knew how to do was give.
Life has definitely presented some painful experiences for me over the years. It wasn’t until mid-life that I discovered the benefits of therapy with a counselor who was a good fit for me. Along with my regular therapy sessions, there were others who offered me life-giving support during those traumatic times. As a result of that, I now gratefully refer to myself as a “group effort.” The foundation of my life was strengthened and rebuilt, bit by bit … and I continue to work on it to this day.
My background includes work in therapeutic music at Kansas City Hospice House as well as at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center NICU. In graduate school, the entirety of my clinical internship was spent providing individual and group therapy at Safehome, a domestic violence shelter in the KC metro area. I am also a Certified Grief Therapist and am committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief.
I love working with people who have given all they can and have nothing left. Or for those who are up against obstacles they have no idea how to navigate. It’s my job to show you how you’re doing the best you can with what you have right now. Together, we will uncover new perspectives and options that lead to more clarity. Most importantly, I want you to feel seen and heard. Let’s find the way forward to the life you want.
